The Lord has been challenging me in so many ways. And it is so so good. I'm thinking in ways I never thought before, and I'm doing things I never thought I would be doing. It's blowing my mind.
One example....... drum lessons.
yeah.... drum lessons.
An awesome girl, Ericka, is visiting us here at IAM for a bit to see how we do what we do, and is using her talents and abilities to serve in various ministries with us for a couple of weeks.
She is what us folks from Missoura would call a musical genius, and her passion shines through her work.
(Seriously... She's awesome. This girl is loca for the musica, has a thing for chocolate, and has no problem jumping right in. If you want to see what she's up to while she's here, *she's a lot better at posting blogs than I am* you can read them here.)
Anyway, this chica can play the drums. This week and next week she's doing a workshop for some of the 8th graders from the school. The first night was last night, and I ended up translating.
(God's idea, not mine.)
But you know what? It was so cool.
First of all, I never thought I would be translating for people. You know, explaining things in a different language. Second, helping give a drum workshop? I don't know. I don't even think I've touched a drum set in my entire life before this week.
But thankfully it's not about me, or what I want to do. It's about what He wants me to do. And apparently this week....... it's help kids learn how to play drums.
I'm incredibly blessed with the opportunity to work alongside Ericka this week. I'm encouraged by her faith, and her confidence. It would be great if you guys could pray for her time here with us in Chile.
And even though it's challenging, I'm also really blessed with the opportunity to improve my spanish by translating. Let me tell you, there is nothing like making sure you say everything correctly, like translating. And then watching a student kind of tilt their head.... and realizing you probably didn't say that right. Haha.
But really. It makes you learn, and I'm grateful for that.
I'm thankful that we have a God who is always by our side, helping us.
So tonight, I'm giving glory to Him who chooses to use us, His children intertwined in sin, to further His kingdom. For continuously transforming us. For constantly challenging us. For always loving us.
